In the public park the fountain of Valligiana was realized, fed by a channel that brings water to the lawn of Ortone. It consists of a shallow basin surmounted by a sort of cliff formed by irregular stone blocks on which stands a female figure pouring water from a traditional tool called "butz dal cheine". It was used by the women to make butter. One immediately senses the reference to the strong mountain women who endure heavy labors, but also to the woman dispenser of wisdom.
It is also immediate the reference to the iconography of the zodiac sign of Aquarius. From its vessel it pours water, a symbol of knowledge, fertility and love for humanity. This sign of the zodiac represents the overcoming of individuality and the consciousness of collectivity, openness to the values of brotherhood and human solidarity.
The reproduction of a boulder placed at the foot of the fountain deserves a mention. It is a micascist block, where Federico Rosazza wanted the reproduction of some grooves flowing into cup-marks of various sizes similar to the engravings present in various cup-marked boulders in sacrificial altars. It seems that the engravings want to narrate the events of a Scandinavian princess. However, since it is a copy of one of the many cup-marked boulders present in the valley and in the alpine area, it has been thought as a reminder of very ancient lithic cults to propitiate fertility. It is not easy to decode the symbolism and the subtle messages of this special place. Not even the correspondence between Federico Rosazza and Giuseppe Maffei has helped.
